Following the 5% drop in payments for solar PV panels implemented in January 2015 there will be a further 3.5% drop from April 2015 (for 4kWp or less installations). This means that the generation tariff for higher rate installations installed after 1st April and before 12 July 2015 will be 13.39p per kWh compared with 13.88p for installations coming on line in the January-March 2015 period. The export tariff, paid on 50% of the electricity generated, will remain unchanged at 4.85p per kWh.
The changes were announced by DECC (The Department of Energy and Climate Change) in March. The drop in payments will equate to losing about £16-18 per year for a 4kWp array. FIT payments are payable for 20 years.
