On 19 October 2021 the UK government announced a new 3-year scheme to help households replace an existing gas boiler with a heat pump. The Boiler Upgrade Scheme will start in April 2022 and pay £5,000 towards the installation costs of a new heat pump system. This is part of the government’s plan to reduce carbon emissions from home heating systems. The scheme will cover both air source heat pumps and ground source heat pumps.
Full details on how to apply for the scheme will be announced at a later date by BEIS (Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy).
